James Gilligan,M.D. is a psychoanalyst who is Professor in the Schools of Medicine, Law and Arts and Science at New York University. He is author of Violence: Reflections on a National Epidemic and also Preventing Violence. He has served as a consultant on violence and social policy to the World Health Organization, The World Court, The World Economic Forum, as well as to President Clinton, Prime Minister Blair, and UN Secretary General Annan.
