Details:

“Honoring the Voices of Partners:

Their Transition as Their Partner Transitions

Wed. May 1, 2019

8:30 - 10:00pm

William Alanson White Institute

20 W. 74 St., Room 3A

Description:

Though many professional discussions and workshops focus on those who are in transition or are considering transitioning, rarely is there a forum for mental health professionals to completely explore the thoughts and feelings of the partner’s experiences, uncertainties, and questions.  This facilitated presentation will offer participants, in a structured environment, an opportunity to address the often-overlooked needs, fears, grief, sex and intimacy, many partners of those in transition or considering transitioning have voiced. Participants will have a chance to work with educator and international speaker D. M. Maynard, author of the newly released first workbook that was created for and focuses on the partner’s journey, The Reflective Workbook for Partners of Transgender People: Your Transition as Your Partner Transitions.
