EDCAS Tuesday Morning Conference: Therapeutic Encounters with the Somatic Self: A Clinical Case Presentation
PRESENTER: Julie Marcuse, Ph.D.
This presentation will explore the use of a relational framework for working with a patient whose presenting symptom was severe abdominal pain. Mind-body dysregulation is prominent in eating disordered patients but also in cases of dramatic somatization. This patient's provocative behavior was an ongoing enactment that led to transformative interactions and the abatement of her symptom.
Bio: Julie J Marcuse, PhD is a Supervising Analyst and member of the teaching faculty of the William Alanson White Institute. She was the Director of the Sexual Abuse Service from 2004 to 2015.
