Report of an Open Trial and Clinical Case

 

Barbara Milrod, M.D.

 

Dr. Milrod is a board-certified psychiatrist (adult and child/adolescent) and a certified psychoanalyst.  She is a professor of psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Dr. Milrod has authored many publications and presentations on psychotherapy for panic disorder, PTSD, and anxiety disorders, among other related topics.  She is also the principal investigator for a number of studies of psychotherapy and anxiety-related disorders among children and adolescents.  Dr. Milrod is especially interested in the study of evidence-based standards for the treatment of anxiety and related disorders, what works and why.

Because of confidentiality concerns, this presentation is limited to licensed mental health professionals and White Institute trainees.

This is an invitation to explore and consider the many ways of thinking about the treatment of children, adolescents and their families.  How do we understand the person before us?  What is helpful in the short-term?  What produces lasting and meaningful change?  We will consider developmental, neuroscientific, and psychoanalytic approaches to understanding the meaning of symptomatic behaviors.
