Parenting After Assisted Reproduction: What You Wanted to Know and Had the Courage to Ask

Date: Jan 30, 2013 7:00 pm

The William Alanson White Institute Parent Center presents an evening discussion for parents, mental health professionals, and educators

Parenting After Assisted Reproduction: What You Wanted to Know and Had the Courage to Ask

Parents' Questions:

  • Do we have to tell the children, and if so when and how do we do it?
  • If we tell the kids, will they tell other people? How will people react?
  • If the kids don't ask questions, how much should we talk about the donor?

Children's Questions:

  • What was the donor like? What would it be like to meet them?
  • Are there other children made with the same donor, and if so can I meet them?
  • Will my parents be mad at me if I tell my friends about the donor?

Highlights include video interviews with offspring conceived using donor gametes.
