Program Description
This 3-hour event features presentations from expert panelists on cultural sensitivity in disaster response, with a focus on specific issues pertaining to the current disaster response in Haiti. Panelists will give presentations followed by discussion from attendees, and among one another.
Given the context of the Haitian earthquake, social, political and spiritual aspects of trauma, resilience, recovery, and post-traumatic growth will be examined. Culturally-oriented approaches and ethical guidelines for collaborative disaster work will be considered from multiple perspectives.
